NFC Miscellaneous content NFC Competitions NFC Competition #5
The 1st Prize:

"Winterlong", an autographed book featuring an array of rare Nirvana photographs. This great book was made by the three photographers Martyn Goodacre, Steve Gullick and Stephen Sweet. It features a great collection of their best Nirvana photos, most of which have not previously been released. The book was released in conjunction with an exhibit in London, featuring the photos. You can read much more about the book in the news section and get a brief review with more details in the December 4 update. The book is quite new as it was released on November 23, and it can be difficult to find outside of Europe. As a special bonus, the book you will have a chance to win is autographed by the three authors. Obviously, the chance of getting a free autographed copy of this book is not something you'll get just everywhere! In addition to that, I have two copies of it in this competition which means there will be two lucky winners of the first prize. So, don't miss this one and enter your name right away! This prize was generously donated by Alex Proud of the Proud Galleries in London. View a large scan of the book's cover here. Note that the signatures are not on the cover of the book, but on the first page.

The 2nd Prize:

"Violet/He hit me" 7 inch single by Hole. This is a quite rare purple 7" single by Hole - the band featuring Courtney Love on vocals and guitar. The song "Violet" is taken off their 1994 album 'Live Through This' while the B-side "He hit me" is unreleased. This prize should fit very nicely in every home belonging to a person who enjoys listening to Hole. View the cover here. This great prize was generously provided by Simon Wright and Esprit.

The 3rd Prize:

"From the muddy banks of the Wishkah" CD by Nirvana. The third prize is a copy of the latest Nirvana release, the 17-track CD with 17 classic songs performed live around Europe and the US. The CD, released in 1996, should belong in the home of every Nirvana fan and gives a fairly good impression of what the band was like in concert. The CD contains many classics, such as 'Teen Spirit', 'Aneurysm' and the energetic early version of 'tourettes' from Reading 1992. It also includes a live version of the song 'Spank Thru' that has only been released officially on the 'Sub-Pop-200' compilation -- the song is said to be the very first Nirvana song. This great prize was generously provided by Simon Wright and Esprit.
