NFC News Nirvana song on LOST
The hugely popular ABC show LOST concluded its 3rd season with a two-hour season finale this past Wednesday evening. Interestingly, in one of Jack's flash-forward scenes, the Nirvana track Scentless Apprentice makes an appearance.

I believe this marks the first time Nirvana's music has been used on network television in the US.

LOST is one of the most popular and most watched shows on television. The Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning show averaged 15.5 million viewers per episode in its first year.

We'll have a clip of the show and more info up soon.

The popular blog site www.largeheartedboy.com is currently featuring an interview with me - conducted by author Ned Vizzini. The interview deals with subjects such as the website's audience, Nirvana collectors and the use of Nirvana in TV shows and such (a topic that is of particular interest now, with the controversy surrounding the Doc Martens ad).

Vizzini is the author of It's kind of a funny story and Be More Chill - two popular and critically acclaimed books.

You can find the interview here. Special thanks to Ned Vizzini and largeheartedboy.com.

NFC News Cobain featured in Doc Martens ad; Courtney objects
From E! Online: "Thanks in part to an outraged Courtney Love, a new Doc Martens ad has been given the boot.

The 42-year-old entertainer was steamed after learing that a new advertising campaign for the footwear company features late husband Kurt Cobain and other iconic punk rockers modeling boots in heaven.

The print ads, promoting the manufactuer's AirWair line and only approved for use in the United Kingdom, portrayed the Nirvana star sitting in a cloudbank, clad all in white except for a pair of black boots. A tag line in corner reads: 'Dr. Martens. Forever.' Similar ads featured the Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious, the Clash's Joe Strummer, and the Ramones' Joey Ramone. The photos were leaked earlier this month via the music blog thedailyswarm.com.

'Courtney never approved the use of these images [for commercial gain] nor would she ever approve it. She knew nothing about it,' Love publicist Alan Nierob tells E! Online."

Read the full story here. Also check the press release from Doc Martens where they announce that the ad has been pulled. Finally, the offensive ad is available here.
